Stuck a bit for time after MOT'ing the camper and then needing a trip to local post office for tax as the online jobbie didnt work ... meant my planned trip to Camber was going to suffer.

Most of the Pevensey Posse were in the Bay so given the narrowed window of opportunity before the forecast wind drop, I headed Baywards.

Got there to be greeted by a few early starters .... wind looked pretty good but the rip looked like a conveyor belt on overtime .... certainly looked like good conditions for walking if you went too small !!

I wasn't taking any chances and quickly rigged the 5.8m Superfreak and the 10'5, much to the confusement of those considering sub 80ltr board and 5m rigs.

For once, I got it spot on, and proceeded to have one of the most fun sessions I've had in ages, in short arm summer suit too.

I did head off on a bit of a downwinder initially as I'd thrown caution to the wind a bit putting the 10'5 into flight mode a couple of times, and then picking off some sweet waves to ride coming in. Figured I was a couple of beaches downwind, so decided to stuff it back upwind of launch spot so I could play in the waves.

The swell was a really fun size today, and some of the waves were well over head high. Funniest wave I hit today was the classic one last smack a bit close to the beach leaving me a real steep drop down the face with real risk of digging the nose under the wave and going proper over the falls, but managed to rescue it and come out looking like I'd meant it ;-) It might have hurt a touch as it was technically shorebreak I was messing with on this occassion !!

Spent a lot of time doing tacks, and often really close in to the beach in the shorebreak for added pressure, and then blasting, jumping, stuffing, riding, blasting and more turny roundy bits.

Felt quite a lonely sail today as all my mates headed towards Bexhill for some reason, so spent more time sailing with those too tight to pay for parking, and who it seemed all wanted to pack up heir kit on the beach at the car park after all.

Gutted was top downwinder today, that was until Jon Harmer showed us how to do a proper downwinder losing 8 beaches (his version) in one run out and back.

For me it was a sweet session as I was on the right kit and had some sweet waves to enjoy. For others it was a rip-fest nightmare of one.

Guess it was only myself who dressed appropriately today :-)
